Red Hat has issued official security updates for grub2 that address this vulnerability. Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 should apply the provided patches as detailed in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2025:16154. Applying these updates mitigates the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond installing the official fix.

Description

CVE-2025-0622 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the grub2 bootloader's command/gpg component. The flaw occurs because hooks created by loaded modules are not removed when the module is unloaded, causing grub2 to call freed hooks. Successful exploitation can lead to arbitrary code execution and bypass of secure boot protections. Red Hat has released updates addressing this issue in their grub2 packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.
