AI-suggested
A patch is available and included in multiple fixed Linux kernel versions starting with 5.15.0-1084.91~20.04.1 and others as listed in the vendor advisory. Users should update their Linux kernel to one of the fixed versions and reboot the system to apply the fix. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official kernel update.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NFS server daemon (NFSD) caused a hang in the nfsd4_shutdown_callback function when the nfs4_client was in a courtesy state. This hang lasted about 15 minutes until the TCP connection dropped. The issue was fixed by skipping the RPC call if the client is in the courtesy state. Multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 5.15.0-1084.91~20.04.1 and others are affected. A patch is available and included in several fixed kernel releases.
