AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been released in multiple fixed Linux kernel versions, including 5.4.0-1146.156~18.04.1 and later. Users should apply the official kernel updates provided by their distribution, such as those from Ubuntu security notices (USN-7510-1). After updating, a system reboot is required to apply the fixes. No additional mitigation steps are necessary beyond applying the official patches.
Description
CVE-2025-21934 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's RapidIO subsystem caused by improper handling when the rio_add_net() function fails. The issue arises because rio_add_net() calls device_register(), and if device_register() fails, the code incorrectly uses kfree() instead of put_device(), leading to a use-after-free condition. This flaw has been fixed by correcting the API misuse and setting the network pointer to NULL to prevent use-after-free errors.
