Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves a logic error in multiple functions within ComputerEngine.java in Google Android versions 14 to 16-qpr2. The flaw permits unauthorized access to URIs across different users, leading to a potential local elevation of privilege without needing any prior execution privileges or user interaction. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 5.9, indicating medium severity, with low attack complexity and no privileges or user interaction required. The vulnerability is categorized under CWE-284 (Improper Access Control).

Potential Impact

An attacker with local access to the device could exploit this vulnerability to escalate their privileges by accessing URIs belonging to other users. This could lead to limited confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts as indicated by the CVSS vector (C:L/I:L/A:L). There are no reports of active exploitation in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since no official fix or temporary mitigation has been published, users and administrators should monitor official Google Android security advisories for updates. No specific workaround is currently documented.
