What to do
AI-suggested
- Immediate mitigation should focus on isolating the vulnerable Tenda AC9 routers from untrusted networks, especially the internet, by disabling remote management features or blocking access to the /goform/SetSambaCfg endpoint via firewall rules.
- Monitor network traffic for unusual activity indicative of exploitation attempts targeting Samba configuration interfaces.
- Regularly check for official firmware updates from Tenda addressing this vulnerability and apply them promptly once available.
- If firmware updates are not yet released, consider replacing vulnerable devices with alternative routers from vendors with better security track records.
- Employ network segmentation to limit the impact of a compromised router and restrict lateral movement within the network.
- Use intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) with signatures targeting command injection attempts on router management endpoints.
- Educate network administrators about this vulnerability to ensure rapid response and mitigation.
Description
Tenda ac9 v1.0 firmware v15.03.05.19 is vulnerable to command injection in /goform/SetSambaCfg, which may lead to remote arbitrary code execution.
