Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in Firefox for iOS allows an attacker to craft JavaScript links that, when opened in a new tab through a long-press action, can spoof the URL shown in the address bar of the new tab. This could mislead users about the actual website they are visiting. The issue was fixed in Firefox for iOS 134 as per Mozilla's security advisory MFSA 2025-06. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 4.3 (medium severity), reflecting a network attack vector with low complexity and requiring user interaction, causing integrity impact but no confidentiality or availability impact.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability can lead to URL spoofing in the Firefox iOS client, potentially misleading users about the legitimacy of a website they are visiting. This could facilitate phishing or social engineering attacks by displaying a deceptive URL. However, it does not impact confidentiality or availability. There are no reports of active exploitation in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Mozilla has released Firefox for iOS version 134 which fixes this vulnerability. Users and administrators should update to Firefox for iOS 134 or later to remediate this issue. Since this is a client-side vulnerability, applying the official update is the recommended and effective mitigation. No additional vendor-recommended mitigations are specified.
