Users and implementers should monitor the IEEE standards body for updates and official fixes. Until a fix is released, caution is advised when deploying mesh networks using these draft versions. Vendor advisories or device manufacturers may provide interim mitigations or firmware updates once the standard is finalized and fixes are incorporated.
Description
CVE-2025-27558 is a critical vulnerability in the IEEE P802.11-REVme draft standard versions D1.1 through D7.0. It allows FragAttacks against mesh networks using WPA, WPA2, WPA3, or WEP. An attacker can inject arbitrary frames to devices that accept non-SSP A-MSDU frames due to insufficient verification of data authenticity. This vulnerability stems from an incorrect fix for a previous issue (CVE-2020-24588).
