Users and administrators should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes these fixes to mitigate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

A use-after-free (UAF) vulnerability was discovered and fixed in the Linux kernel's ASUS HID driver. The flaw occurs during device initialization when a specially crafted HID descriptor causes the input device to be freed prematurely, leading to a write to freed memory. This issue was triggered by a malicious HID device, such as an ASUS ROG N-Key keyboard, using an undefined usage page in its report descriptor. The vulnerability was addressed by adding validation to prevent the UAF condition.
