What to do
AI-suggested
A fix is available in the Linux kernel that corrects the bus_context pointer in regmap initialization calls. Users should update to a kernel version that includes this fix. Since this is a kernel-level issue, applying the official kernel patch or upgrading to a fixed kernel release is the recommended remediation. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; check the Linux kernel vendor advisory or source repository for the exact fixed version and apply updates accordingly.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's regmap slimbus implementation was resolved by correcting an incorrect bus_context pointer used in regmap initialization calls. The issue was introduced after a commit that changed the regmap initialization function, causing kernel paging faults and breaking audio playback on affected hardware such as the Thundercomm Dragonboard 845c. The fix involves using the correct bus_context pointer in both __devm_regmap_init_slimbus() and __regmap_init_slimbus() functions.
