AI-suggested
- Restrict API access strictly to trusted users and networks, employing strong authentication and authorization controls.
- Implement input validation and output encoding on all data accepted via the API to prevent injection of malicious scripts.
- Monitor application logs and API usage for anomalous or suspicious activity indicative of injection attempts.
- Limit the number of administrators who have access to view logs and ensure they use updated browsers with security features enabled.
- Employ Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to reduce the impact of potential XSS payloads.
- Segregate administrative interfaces from general user interfaces to minimize exposure.
- Stay updated with Emoncms security advisories and apply patches promptly once available.
- Consider deploying Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) with rules to detect and block XSS attempts targeting the logging endpoints.
Description
Emoncms 11.7.3 is vulnerable to Cross Site in the input handling mechanism. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with API access to inject malicious JavaScript code that executes when administrators view the application logs.
