What to do
AI-suggested
- Immediately isolate R.V.R Elettronica TEX devices from untrusted networks and restrict access to the management interface to trusted administrators only via network segmentation and firewall rules.
- Implement strict access control lists (ACLs) to limit which IP addresses can reach the /_Passwd.html endpoint.
- Monitor network traffic for unauthorized POST requests targeting the /_Passwd.html endpoint and set up alerts for suspicious activity.
- Employ intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) with signatures or behavioral rules tailored to detect exploitation attempts of this vulnerability.
- Regularly audit device configurations and verify password integrity to detect unauthorized changes.
- Engage with the vendor for updates or patches and apply them promptly once available.
- Consider deploying multi-factor authentication (MFA) on management interfaces if supported to add an additional layer of security.
- Maintain comprehensive backups of device configurations to enable rapid recovery if compromise occurs.
- Educate network and security teams about this vulnerability and ensure incident response plans include scenarios involving device compromise.
Description
The R.V.R Elettronica TEX product (firmware TEXL-000400, Web GUI TLAN-000400) is vulnerable to broken access control due to improper authentication checks on the /_Passwd.html endpoint. An attacker can send an unauthenticated POST request to change the Admin, Operator, and User passwords, resulting in complete system compromise.
