A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented and is available in multiple Linux kernel commits. Users and administrators should update to a patched kernel version that includes these fixes. Since this is not a cloud service, manual patching is required. There are no vendor advisories indicating that no action is required or that the issue is already mitigated.
Description
CVE-2025-68794 is a critical vulnerability in the Linux kernel's iomap subsystem where the function iomap_adjust_read_range() incorrectly handles non-block-aligned read positions. This flaw causes the function to skip too many bytes for uptodate blocks, potentially returning incorrect read positions and lengths, which can lead to underflow and reading beyond the intended memory area. The issue has been fixed in several Linux kernel commits.
