A fix is available and has been applied in multiple Linux kernel commits. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes these fixes. Since this is not a cloud service, manual patching is required. No alternative mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
CVE-2026-23243 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's RDMA subsystem, specifically in the ib_umad_write function. It arises when a negative data_len value is computed due to mismatched user MAD header size and RMPP header length, leading to an out-of-bounds memory write in alloc_send_rmpp_list. This flaw has been fixed by adding an explicit check to reject negative data_len values before buffer creation.
