What to do
AI-suggested
Given the absence of official patches, organizations should implement immediate compensating controls to mitigate CVE-2025-70084. First, apply strict input validation and sanitization on all inputs to the FileUtil_GetFileInfo function to prevent directory traversal sequences such as '../'. Employ allowlisting of acceptable file paths and reject any input containing path traversal characters or patterns. Restrict file system permissions to limit access to sensitive directories and files, ensuring the OpenSatKit process runs with the least privileges necessary. Network-level controls such as firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems should monitor and block suspicious requests targeting file information functions. Conduct thorough logging and monitoring of file access attempts to detect potential exploitation attempts early. Organizations should also engage with the OpenSatKit community or vendor to obtain patches or updates as soon as they become available. Finally, consider isolating vulnerable instances from public networks or restricting access to trusted users only until a permanent fix is deployed.
Description
Directory traversal vulnerability in OpenSatKit 2.2.1 allows attackers to gain access to sensitive information or delete arbitrary files via crafted value to the FileUtil_GetFileInfo function.
