A fix is available and has been applied in specific Linux kernel commits. Users and administrators should update to a Linux kernel version that includes these fixes. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, applying the official patches or upgrading to a fixed kernel version is the recommended mitigation.
Description
CVE-2025-71082 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Bluetooth USB driver (btusb) related to improper memory management. The issue arises from the use of devm_kzalloc() to allocate driver data tied to a single interface's lifetime, which causes premature freeing of memory still in use by other interfaces. This can lead to use-after-free conditions. The vulnerability has been fixed by reverting the use of devm_kzalloc and returning to explicit memory freeing.
