AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel source code. Users and administrators should update to a fixed kernel version that includes the relevant patches. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, applying the official kernel updates is the recommended remediation.

Description

CVE-2025-71131 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's crypto subsystem related to the seqiv implementation. The flaw occurs because the code dereferences req->iv after calling crypto_aead_encrypt, which may have asynchronously freed the underlying request. This improper use can lead to invalid memory access. The issue has been fixed by avoiding use of req->iv after the encryption call and instead using a separate variable. The vulnerability has a high severity score of 7.5 and affects Linux kernel version 2.6.25.
