AI-suggested
Upgrade Zulip Server to version 12.2 or later, where this authorization issue is fixed. No other mitigation or workaround is indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
Zulip Server versions prior to 12.2 contain an authorization flaw where guest users can receive new message events from public channels they are not subscribed to. This occurs because guests can register event queues requesting messages from unsubscribed channels or retain access after their permissions are revoked. The issue exposes new messages from public channels to unauthorized guests. The vulnerability is fixed in version 12.2.
