Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Newell Brands
Product: DYMO ID

Description

Newell Brands DYMO ID versions 1.5.1.71 up to but not including 1.6.0 contain an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability due to improper restriction of XML external entity references. The software parses job files using XmlDocument.Load() without disabling DTD processing, which can lead to server-side request forgery (SSRF), NTLMv2 credential capture, local file disclosure, or application crashes when processing crafted files on browsed network shares. This vulnerability is fixed in version 1.6.0.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-101893 is an XXE vulnerability in Newell Brands DYMO ID 1.5.1.71 through versions before 1.6.0. The product automatically parses job files on folder browse using XmlDocument.Load() without disabling DTD processing, allowing crafted job files to trigger SSRF, capture NTLMv2 credentials, read local files, or crash the process. The vulnerability is addressed by disabling DTD processing in version 1.6.0.

Potential Impact

An attacker who can place a crafted job file on any browsed network share can exploit this vulnerability to perform SSRF, capture NTLMv2 credentials, read local files, or cause a denial of service by crashing the process. The CVSS score is 4.4 (medium severity), reflecting local attack vector with low impact on confidentiality and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade to Newell Brands DYMO ID version 1.6.0 or later, where the vulnerability is fixed by disabling DTD processing during XML parsing. Until the upgrade, avoid browsing folders containing untrusted job files to reduce exposure.
