Description

CVE-2026-102052 is a high-severity stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the jdhcpd process of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved platforms. It can be triggered by an adjacent unauthenticated attacker sending a malformed DHCPv4 server response when the DHCPv4 local-client feature is enabled. Successful exploitation may lead to denial of service or arbitrary code execution with root privileges.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CWE-121) exists in the jdhcpd process of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved. An attacker on an adjacent network can exploit a stack-based buffer overflow by sending a malformed DHCPv4 server response when the DHCPv4 local-client feature is active. This can result in denial of service or remote code execution with root privileges. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 8.8, reflecting high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The vulnerability affects multiple versions of Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved as specified.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker on an adjacent network can cause a denial of service or execute arbitrary code with root privileges on affected Junos OS devices. This compromises system confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch links are provided in the available data. Until a patch is available, consider disabling the DHCPv4 local-client feature if feasible to reduce exposure.
