Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-102097 is a vulnerability in Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway before version 9.5.0 where an authenticated administrator can import configuration files whose contents are not properly validated. This improper limitation of a pathname to a restricted directory (CWE-22) combined with insufficient input validation (CWE-94) can allow arbitrary commands to be executed remotely on the gateway. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 7.2, indicating high severity, with network attack vector, low attack complexity, and requiring high privileges but no user interaction.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated administrator to execute arbitrary commands on the affected gateway, potentially leading to full system compromise including confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway to version 9.5.0 or later where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is indicated. Since this is not a cloud service, remediation depends on applying the official patch.
