Vendor/Project: Kiteworks
Product: Email Protection Gateway

Description

CVE-2026-102143 is a vulnerability in Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway where an unauthenticated attacker can write a file with attacker-controlled content to the appliance filesystem via an administrative upload handler that lacks proper authentication. This flaw does not directly allow code execution, as that would require an additional vulnerability to place the file in an executable location. The issue affects versions prior to 9.5.1.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CWE-306) arises from missing authentication on a critical administrative upload function in Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this to write arbitrary files to the appliance filesystem. Although this does not immediately enable code execution, it compromises the integrity of the system and could be leveraged in combination with other vulnerabilities. The affected versions are all releases before 9.5.1.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker to write files with attacker-controlled content to the appliance filesystem, potentially leading to integrity violations. However, it does not by itself enable code execution or availability impact. The confidentiality impact is none, but the integrity impact is high due to unauthorized file writes.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch links or vendor advisories are provided in the input data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the administrative upload interface and monitor for unauthorized file uploads.
