AI-suggested
Upgrade Kroki to version 0.31.2 or later, where this SSRF vulnerability is fixed. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory. If upgrading is not immediately possible, restrict access to the Mermaid companion and diagram submission interfaces to trusted users only, and ensure network segmentation limits the companion's ability to reach sensitive internal resources.
Description
Kroki versions from 0.26.0 up to but not including 0.31.2 contain a server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the Mermaid companion's PNG rendering process. This flaw allows an authenticated actor who can submit Mermaid source diagrams to cause the companion to issue HTTP or HTTPS GET requests without network request restrictions, even when safe mode is enabled. The vulnerability is fixed in version 0.31.2.
