CVE-2026-102777: CWE-918: Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) in svenbluege.de Event Gallery for Joomla
Description
Joomla Extension - svenbluege.de - Server-side request forgery in the Google Photos picker in Event Gallery extension < 6.6.0 - The Google Photos picker of the back-end upload page fetches the thumbnails of the picked images through the server, with the OAuth access token of the Google Photos account. The task took the address to fetch from the request without checking it and asked for no form token. A prepared page on another web site could therefore make the server send the access token of the account to any address, or fetch addresses inside the server's network, in the name of a logged in administrator; a back-end user with the permission "Manage" could do the same directly. The token is valid for about an hour and reaches what the picker session of the account reaches.

Technical Analysis
The Event Gallery extension for Joomla (versions 1.0.0 to 6.6.0) contains a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability (CWE-918) in its Google Photos picker feature on the back-end upload page. The picker fetches thumbnails using the server and the OAuth access token without validating the requested address or requiring a form token. This allows a crafted page to cause the server to send the access token to arbitrary addresses or fetch internal network resources on behalf of a logged-in administrator or a user with 'Manage' permission. The access token remains valid for about one hour and provides access consistent with the Google Photos picker session.
Potential Impact
An attacker can exploit this SSRF vulnerability to make the server perform unauthorized requests to arbitrary external or internal network addresses using the OAuth access token of the Google Photos account. This could lead to unauthorized access to internal services or leakage of the OAuth token, potentially compromising the Google Photos account's data accessible by the picker session. The attack requires a logged-in administrator or a user with 'Manage' permission on the Joomla back-end.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the Joomla back-end to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity. Avoid using the Google Photos picker feature in the affected versions if possible.
