CVE-2026-102980: CWE-639: Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key in makeplane plane
Description
CVE-2026-102980 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in the open-source project management tool Plane prior to version 1.4.0. The flaw allows a user who is a member of one project to read the description_html of a public page in another project within the same workspace by exploiting insufficient scoping of page-version lookups. The vulnerability is read-only and does not permit modification of pages across projects. This issue is fixed in Plane version 1.4.0.

Technical Analysis
Plane versions prior to 1.4.0 contain an authorization bypass vulnerability (CWE-639) in the PageVersionEndpoint located in apps/api/plane/app/views/page/version.py. The endpoint scopes page-version lookups by workspace and page identifiers but fails to restrict access by the project_id from the URL. Additionally, ProjectPagePermission derives the caller's role from the URL project while resolving the requested page workspace-wide. This allows a member of one project to access the description_html content of a public page belonging to another project in the same workspace. The affected endpoint is read-only, preventing cross-project page modifications. The vulnerability is resolved in version 1.4.0.
Potential Impact
An attacker who is a member of one project within a workspace can read the description_html content of public pages in other projects within the same workspace. This results in unauthorized disclosure of project page information. There is no impact on data integrity or availability, as the vulnerability does not allow modification or deletion of pages.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade Plane to version 1.4.0 or later, where this authorization bypass vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is required as the issue is resolved by this official fix.
