AI-suggested
Upgrade OpenEMR to version 8.3.0 or later, where the missing authorization check has been implemented. No other mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
OpenEMR versions prior to 8.3.0 contain a missing authorization vulnerability in the payment_ajax.php script. Although a CSRF token is validated, there is no access control check before performing a wildcard search of patient data. This allows any authenticated user, including those without clinical roles, to enumerate sensitive patient information such as identifiers, full names, and dates of birth. The issue is resolved in OpenEMR version 8.3.0.
