Users should monitor the vendor's advisories for updates. Until a fix is available, restrict contributor-level access to trusted users only and consider disabling or limiting use of the affected parameters. Applying strict input validation and output escaping in custom code or using security plugins that filter shortcode attributes may reduce risk.
Description
The Avada (Fusion) Builder WordPress plugin up to version 3.16.2 is vulnerable to stored cross-site scripting (XSS) via the 'tab_index' and 'empty_notice' parameters. Authenticated users with contributor-level access or higher can inject malicious scripts that execute when other users view the affected pages. The vulnerability arises because the plugin insufficiently sanitizes and escapes input, and wp_kses_post does not remove the payload due to its placement within shortcode attribute text.
