Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-104892 describes a vulnerability in the Plane project management tool where the aPITokenLogMiddleware component logged API keys in plaintext before version 1.4.0. This improper handling of sensitive credentials (CWE-256) could allow an attacker with limited privileges to steal API keys and escalate their access rights. The vulnerability has been addressed and fixed in Plane version 1.4.0.

Potential Impact

An attacker with low privileges could obtain user API keys due to plaintext logging, enabling them to escalate privileges within the Plane application. This compromises the confidentiality of API keys and potentially the integrity and availability of the system through unauthorized actions.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade Plane to version 1.4.0 or later, where the plaintext logging of API keys in aPITokenLogMiddleware has been fixed. No other mitigation is required as the issue is resolved in this official fix.
