Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-104915 is an authorization bypass vulnerability (CWE-862) in the Academy LMS – AI Course Builder, Quizzes, Certificates & eLearning WordPress plugin. The flaw allows authenticated users with custom-level access or above, registered as instructors for at least one course, to supply arbitrary course IDs to bypass instructor checks. This enables them to permanently delete arbitrary lesson comments and replies authored by any user, including administrators, across courses they do not instruct. The vulnerability affects all plugin versions up to and including 4.0.3.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability allows authenticated users with limited instructor privileges to delete lesson comments and replies authored by any user, including administrators, on courses they do not instruct. This results in unauthorized modification of course content data, specifically the permanent deletion of comments, which can disrupt course integrity and user communication. There is no impact on confidentiality or availability reported.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict instructor-level user permissions carefully and monitor for unauthorized comment deletions. Avoid granting custom-level or higher access to untrusted users. Follow vendor updates for official patches or fixes.
