Technical Analysis

The MPG WordPress plugin prior to version 4.2.3 fails to properly validate the structure of imported project data before incorporating it into database queries. This improper validation enables users with Editor or higher privileges to perform SQL injection attacks, which can lead to unauthorized reading of sensitive data including password hashes.

Potential Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an attacker with Editor or higher privileges to execute arbitrary SQL queries on the database. This may result in unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information such as password hashes stored in the database.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the MPG WordPress plugin to version 4.2.3 or later where this vulnerability has been fixed. No other mitigation details are provided; applying the official update is the recommended remediation.
