AI-suggested
Upgrade ZITADEL to version 3.4.15 or later if using the 3.x branch, or to version 4.17.1 or later if using the 4.x branch. These versions contain the official fix for this improper authorization vulnerability. No other mitigation actions are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
ZITADEL versions 3.x before 3.4.15 and 4.x before 4.17.1 have an improper authorization vulnerability. The system incorrectly validates the organization when issuing passkey or passwordless enrollment codes, relying only on the x-zitadel-orgid header rather than the target user's actual organization. This flaw allows attackers with user-write permission in one organization to obtain enrollment codes for users in other organizations on the same instance, enabling them to register authenticators and take over those accounts.
