Description
CVE-2026-105281 is a vulnerability in the Grid Protection Alliance openPDC product where the internal data publisher accepts network connections without authentication by default. This allows an unauthenticated attacker to connect and retrieve the full device and measurement topology of the system. The vulnerability affects multiple versions prior to 2.9.477, 2.9.482, 2.8.580, and 2.8.585. It has a high severity with a CVSS score of 7.5.

Technical Analysis
The internal data publisher component of openPDC accepts unauthenticated network connections in its default configuration. This lack of authentication (CWE-306) enables an attacker with network access to connect to the interface and extract the complete device and measurement topology information from the system. The vulnerability affects versions prior to 2.9.477, 2.9.482, 2.8.580, and 2.8.585. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 7.5, reflecting high impact on confidentiality but no impact on integrity or availability.
Potential Impact
An unauthenticated network attacker can retrieve sensitive system topology information, which could aid in further reconnaissance or targeted attacks. The vulnerability does not impact system integrity or availability directly but exposes critical configuration and measurement data.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a patch or official fix is available, restrict network access to the internal data publisher interface to trusted hosts only or disable the interface if not required.
