CVE-2026-105570: CWE-178: Improper Handling of Case Sensitivity in Docker Docker Sandboxes
Description
CVE-2026-105570 is a medium severity vulnerability in Docker Sandboxes where OAuth token-endpoint hostnames were compared case-sensitively, but DNS routing was case-insensitive. This mismatch allowed untrusted sandbox code to use case-variant hostnames to bypass response masking and potentially receive unmasked OAuth access and refresh tokens if the OAuth flow was completed.

Technical Analysis
Docker Sandboxes improperly handled case sensitivity when comparing OAuth token-endpoint hostnames. The sandbox compared hostnames case-sensitively to decide whether to mask managed credential responses, while the request routing treated DNS hostnames case-insensitively. This discrepancy allowed untrusted code inside the sandbox to use a case-variant hostname to reach the legitimate provider endpoint but bypass the masking of sensitive OAuth tokens. Consequently, if a user completed the OAuth flow, the sandbox could receive unmasked access and refresh tokens, exposing host-managed credentials. The affected versions are Docker Sandboxes >=0.21.0 and <0.47.0. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 6.7, indicating a medium severity vulnerability.
Potential Impact
Untrusted code running inside a Docker Sandbox could exploit this vulnerability to obtain unmasked OAuth access and refresh tokens by using case-variant hostnames. This exposure could lead to unauthorized access to host-managed credentials, potentially compromising the security of OAuth-protected resources.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch links are provided in the available data. Until a patch is available, users should be cautious with OAuth token handling in affected Docker Sandbox versions and monitor vendor communications for updates.
