Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: makeplane
Product: plane

Description

Plane is an open-source project management tool. Prior to 1.4.0, an authenticated low-privilege workspace member, including a Guest, can upload an image/svg+xml file as a generic or issue attachment. The file retains the attacker-controlled Content-Type, and the asset-download endpoint creates a presigned URL with Content-Disposition: inline. In the default self-hosted MinIO deployment, the asset URL is served from the same origin as the Plane application, allowing embedded SVG JavaScript to execute in the application's security context. A victim, including a workspace administrator, who opens the link can have the session compromised through stored XSS, leading to account takeover. This issue is fixed in 1.4.0.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-105630 describes a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in Plane versions before 1.4.0. The issue arises because low-privilege authenticated users can upload image/svg+xml files as attachments, which retain the attacker-controlled Content-Type. The asset-download endpoint generates a presigned URL with Content-Disposition set to inline, and in the default self-hosted MinIO deployment, the asset URL is served from the same origin as the Plane application. This allows embedded SVG JavaScript to execute within the application's security context. A victim user, including workspace administrators, who opens the malicious link can have their session compromised, leading to account takeover. The vulnerability is resolved in Plane 1.4.0.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker with low privileges to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the context of the Plane application for other users, including administrators. This can lead to session compromise and account takeover. The vulnerability does not impact availability but has high confidentiality and integrity impacts as per the CVSS score of 8.7.

Mitigation Recommendations

This vulnerability is fixed in Plane version 1.4.0. Users should upgrade to version 1.4.0 or later to remediate this issue. No additional mitigation is required if the upgrade is applied.
