Product: immich

Description

CVE-2026-105764 is a high-severity code injection vulnerability in immich, a self-hosted photo and video management solution. Versions prior to 3.2.4 allow an authenticated non-admin user to upload crafted SVG files that can bypass native SVG loaders and exploit ImageMagick's unrestricted operations. This leads to potential code execution within the immich-server container during thumbnail processing. The issue is fixed in version 3.2.4.

Technical Analysis

Immich versions before 3.2.4 contain a code injection vulnerability (CWE-94) where an authenticated non-admin user can upload malicious SVG files. These files bypass libvips' native SVG loader and fall back to ImageMagick, where attacker-controlled <image href> attributes reach unrestricted MSL and VIDEO coder operations. By storing a crafted asset and referencing it from a second SVG, an attacker can execute arbitrary code in the immich-server container during thumbnail generation. The vulnerability is resolved in immich version 3.2.4.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated non-admin user to execute arbitrary code within the immich-server container, potentially compromising the server environment. This can lead to unauthorized control over the server hosting immich, impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the service and stored media.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade immich to version 3.2.4 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigations are specified. Patch status is confirmed by the vendor advisory indicating the fix in 3.2.4.
