Description

Slims (Senayan Library Management Systems) version 9 Bulian 9.8.0 contains an SQL injection vulnerability in the admin/modules/bibliography/index.php component. An authenticated staff user can exploit this via the opac_hide and promoted GET parameters. The vulnerability arises because escape_string() is applied but the parameters are concatenated into an unquoted numeric SQL context, allowing error-based information disclosure and arbitrary data extraction.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in Slims 9 Bulian 9.8.0 involves improper handling of the opac_hide and promoted GET parameters in admin/modules/bibliography/index.php. Although escape_string() is used, the parameters are concatenated into an unquoted numeric SQL context, which does not properly sanitize the input. This flaw enables an authenticated staff user to perform SQL injection attacks, leading to error-based information disclosure and arbitrary data extraction from the database.

Potential Impact

An authenticated staff user can exploit this vulnerability to perform SQL injection, which may result in unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information and extraction of arbitrary data from the database. This compromises the confidentiality and integrity of the system's data.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided in the available data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict staff user privileges to limit exposure and monitor for suspicious activity related to the affected parameters.
