Upgrade DDEV to version 1.25.4 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigations are indicated or required as the fix addresses the root cause.
Description
DDEV versions from 1.25.2 up to but not including 1.25.4 contain a path traversal vulnerability in the Untar function of pkg/archive/archive.go. This flaw allows crafted tar archives to create absolute symlinks that can lead to writing files outside the intended extraction directory. Exploitation can occur via remote add-on retrieval or database/file imports, potentially overwriting shell startup files, Git hooks, or cron entries, which may result in code execution within the DDEV user's context. The issue is fixed in version 1.25.4. Unzip functionality is not affected.
