Published: 10/22/2026 (10/22/2026, 17:32:49 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: PHPOffice
Product: PhpSpreadsheet

Description

PhpSpreadsheet versions prior to 1.30.7, 2.1.19, 2.4.8, 3.10.8, and 5.10.0 contain a vulnerability in the Ods::processTableRow function. This vulnerability allows an attacker to specify an unbounded number of repeated rows in an ODS spreadsheet file, causing uncontrolled resource consumption. The issue can lead to substantial CPU and memory usage, potentially terminating the PHP worker process. This vulnerability has been fixed in the stated versions.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability CVE-2026-108359 affects the PHPOffice PhpSpreadsheet library in the Ods::processTableRow function. The function accepts the table:number-rows-repeated attribute from an ODS table row without bounding it against the spreadsheet row limit. This allows an attacker to craft a malicious ODS file with a large repetition count, causing the reader to materialize excessive cells and consume excessive CPU and memory resources. Column repetition is not affected by this issue. The vulnerability is addressed in versions 1.30.7, 2.1.19, 2.4.8, 3.10.8, and 5.10.0.

Potential Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability can cause denial of service by exhausting CPU and memory resources of the PHP worker processing the spreadsheet file. This can lead to termination of the PHP process and disruption of services relying on PhpSpreadsheet for ODS file processing.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade PhpSpreadsheet to version 1.30.7, 2.1.19, 2.4.8, 3.10.8, or 5.10.0 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory.
