Product: crawl4ai

Description

CVE-2026-109239 is a server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in crawl4ai versions before 0.9.4. It affects the RobotsParser.can_fetch function, allowing unauthenticated attackers to bypass Docker server egress controls. By enabling check_robots_txt and leveraging redirects or DNS rebinding, attackers can reach internal, loopback, or cloud metadata addresses for service discovery.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in crawl4ai before version 0.9.4 is a blind SSRF in the RobotsParser.can_fetch method. This flaw permits unauthenticated attackers to bypass Docker egress restrictions by enabling the check_robots_txt feature and exploiting redirects or DNS rebinding techniques. This enables attackers to access internal network resources, loopback interfaces, or cloud metadata endpoints, potentially facilitating service discovery within protected environments.

Potential Impact

An attacker can bypass Docker server egress controls to access internal, loopback, or cloud metadata addresses. This may lead to unauthorized service discovery within internal networks or cloud environments. The vulnerability is unauthenticated and remotely exploitable, increasing the risk of reconnaissance and potential follow-on attacks. However, no known exploits in the wild have been reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in crawl4ai version 0.9.4. Users should upgrade to version 0.9.4 or later to remediate this SSRF vulnerability. Until upgraded, disabling the check_robots_txt feature can mitigate exploitation risk by preventing the SSRF attack vector.
