AI-suggested

A fix is available in ImageMagick versions 6.9.13-57 and 7.1.2-32 and later. Users should upgrade to these or newer versions to remediate the vulnerability. No vendor advisory content was provided to indicate alternative mitigations or if the issue is already mitigated in specific environments.

Description

A memory leak vulnerability exists in ImageMagick versions before 6.9.13-57 and 7.x before 7.1.2-32 in the PNG encoder. The flaw occurs when libpng initialization fails during PNG encoding, causing allocated memory not to be released. Repeated triggering of this failure can exhaust system memory and result in a denial of service.
