Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-110070 is an authorization bypass vulnerability (CWE-639) in the Modern Events Calendar Lite WordPress plugin versions prior to 7.36.4. The plugin fails to verify that a user is authorized to edit a target post before allowing updates. This flaw enables authenticated users with minimal privileges (Subscriber role) to modify content of arbitrary posts, pages, and custom post types created by other users, potentially leading to unauthorized content manipulation.

Potential Impact

Authenticated users with the Subscriber role can modify the title, content, and excerpt of posts, pages, and custom post types they do not own. This could lead to unauthorized content changes, defacement, misinformation, or other content integrity issues within the affected WordPress site.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the Modern Events Calendar Lite plugin to version 7.36.4 or later, where this authorization bypass vulnerability has been fixed. No other mitigation is required once the plugin is updated.
