Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: 1024-lab
Product: SmartAdmin

Description

SmartAdmin through 3.30.0 contains a missing authorization vulnerability in AdminProtectController that allows authenticated low-privileged employees to modify system-wide level-3 protection settings. Attackers can call the unannotated updateConfig and loginFail batchDelete endpoints to disable login lockout and two-factor login, weaken password rules, and clear lockout records.

Technical Analysis

SmartAdmin versions up to 3.30.0 contain a missing authorization flaw in the AdminProtectController. Authenticated low-privileged employees can invoke the unannotated updateConfig and loginFail batchDelete endpoints to alter level-3 protection settings. This enables attackers to disable login lockout mechanisms, two-factor authentication, weaken password requirements, and remove lockout records, thereby compromising system security.

Potential Impact

An attacker with low-level authenticated access can weaken or disable key security controls such as login lockout and two-factor authentication. This increases the risk of unauthorized access and reduces the effectiveness of password policies and account lockout protections, potentially facilitating further compromise.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided in the available data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the affected endpoints and monitor for unauthorized configuration changes.
