Technical Analysis

waynboot-mall versions up to 2.0.0 contain an insecure direct object reference vulnerability in the AddressController component. This flaw permits authenticated members to bypass authorization controls and modify or delete shipping addresses of other members by enumerating auto-incremented address IDs and issuing POST /address or DELETE /address/{addressId} requests targeting victim addresses.

Potential Impact

An attacker with valid authentication can manipulate or delete shipping addresses of other users, potentially causing disruption or misuse of user data. The vulnerability does not allow unauthenticated access and has a medium severity score of 5.3, indicating a moderate risk.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the AddressController endpoints to only authorized users and consider implementing additional authorization checks to prevent unauthorized modifications. Monitor for unusual activity involving address modifications.
