Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CWE-863) in Devolutions Server 2026.3.8.0 and earlier versions permits an authenticated user with general Edit rights, but without explicit Edit asset permission, to change the asset contact password via a crafted request to the partial-save endpoint. This indicates an authorization bypass where insufficient permission checks allow unauthorized modification of sensitive asset credentials.

Potential Impact

An attacker with general Edit permissions but without asset-specific Edit rights can modify asset contact passwords, potentially leading to unauthorized access or control over assets managed by the server. This could undermine asset security and confidentiality within the affected environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Devolutions Server version 2026.3.10. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability. No other mitigation guidance is provided.
