Vendor/Project: Report One
Product: MyReport Updater

Description

CVE-2026-110633 is a local privilege escalation vulnerability in Report One's MyReport Updater up to version 2.1.1. It allows low-privileged users to exploit the SYSTEM updater service to install attacker-controlled archives into arbitrary directories. By manipulating UpdaterManager.exe over gRPC, attackers can set malicious parameters to plant a DLL loaded by a system process, thereby gaining SYSTEM privileges.

Technical Analysis

MyReport Updater versions up to 2.1.1 contain an improper privilege management vulnerability that enables local attackers with low privileges to escalate to SYSTEM level. The vulnerability arises because UpdaterManager.exe accepts gRPC commands that allow setting a reference server and install location. Attackers can leverage this to install malicious DLLs, such as HID.dll, into directories loaded by system processes like osk.exe, resulting in SYSTEM privilege execution.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows a local attacker to escalate privileges from a low-privileged user to SYSTEM level, potentially leading to full system compromise. This can enable attackers to execute arbitrary code with the highest system privileges.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict local user access to the MyReport Updater service and monitor for unauthorized use of UpdaterManager.exe over gRPC.
