Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: ILIAS-eLearning e.V.
Product: ILIAS

Description

ILIAS before 9.24, 10.12, and 11.5 contains a PHP object injection vulnerability that allows authenticated users with Test creation or import permission to deserialize arbitrary objects via crafted Test archives. Attackers can inject a malicious tst_sequence sequence attribute that is passed to unserialize(), abusing Guzzle or Monolog gadget chains to write PHP files and execute code.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-110761 is a PHP object injection vulnerability in ILIAS eLearning software versions prior to 9.24, 10.12, and 11.5. Authenticated users with permissions to create or import Tests can craft malicious Test archives containing a tst_sequence attribute that is deserialized unsafely. This vulnerability abuses gadget chains in third-party libraries such as Guzzle or Monolog to write PHP files and achieve remote code execution.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated user with specific permissions to execute arbitrary PHP code on the server, potentially leading to full system compromise. The vulnerability requires authentication and specific privileges, but the impact is high due to the ability to write and execute arbitrary PHP files.

Mitigation Recommendations

No explicit patch or remediation details are provided in the input data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until patched, restrict Test creation and import permissions to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity related to Test archives.
