Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-110907 describes a vulnerability in Backdrop CMS Core where the token browser component does not adequately limit access to the types of tokens available for selection. Tokens are placeholders used to insert dynamic data into text. While the names of individual tokens are protected, the insufficient restriction on token types could lead to unauthorized exposure of token categories. This issue affects Backdrop CMS versions >=1.34.0 <1.34.6 and >=1.35.0 <1.35.2.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows an attacker to access token types that should be restricted, potentially exposing sensitive dynamic data placeholders. The CVSS score of 7.5 indicates a high severity with network attack vector, no privileges required, no user interaction, and high confidentiality impact. There is no indication of integrity or availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Backdrop CMS versions 1.34.6 and 1.35.2. Users should upgrade to these or later versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.
