Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: nezhahq
Product: nezha

Description

Nezha versions 1.0.0 up to but not including 2.3.15 contain a memory exhaustion vulnerability in the dashboard file manager WebSocket endpoint. The vulnerability arises because the fmStream component does not enforce a read limit on incoming messages, allowing authenticated users with file manager permissions to send an oversized binary message. This can trigger an out-of-memory (OOM) kill that disrupts all agent monitoring.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-111384 describes a memory exhaustion vulnerability in Nezha's dashboard file manager WebSocket endpoint. Specifically, the fmStream implementation fails to call SetReadLimit, leaving the message size unbounded. Authenticated users with file manager scopes can exploit this by sending a single oversized binary message to the /api/v1/ws/file/:id endpoint, causing an OOM kill that terminates all agent monitoring processes. This affects Nezha versions from 1.0.0 up to but excluding 2.3.15.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in denial of service by exhausting memory resources, causing the operating system to kill the Nezha agent process. This leads to a loss of monitoring capabilities until the agent is restarted or recovered. The vulnerability requires authenticated access with file manager permissions, limiting the attack surface to authorized users.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict file manager scope permissions to trusted users only to reduce risk. Monitor for unusual memory usage or agent crashes related to the WebSocket file manager endpoint.
