Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-111738 describes an incorrect authorization vulnerability (CWE-863) in the Speed Optimizer WordPress plugin versions prior to 7.8.5. The plugin fails to verify that a user has network-level privileges before applying option changes across the entire multisite network. Additionally, it does not restrict which options may be changed, enabling a site administrator who is not a Super Admin to create or overwrite network-wide options, potentially impacting the configuration and security of the multisite network.

Potential Impact

An attacker with site administrator privileges but without Super Admin rights can modify or overwrite network-wide options in a multisite WordPress environment. This could lead to unauthorized changes affecting the entire network, potentially degrading security or functionality at the network level.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the Speed Optimizer plugin to version 7.8.5 or later where this authorization issue is fixed. No other mitigation guidance is provided, and no temporary fixes are indicated.
