Published: 10/19/2026 (10/19/2026, 13:55:27 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: VideoLAN
Product: libbluray

Description

VideoLAN libbluray through 1.5.1 contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in clpi_access_point() that allows attackers to crash applications by supplying a ClipInfo file with an empty EP-map fine table. Attackers can place a crafted .clpi file in BDMV/CLIPINF with num_ep_fine set to zero and an unclamped ref_ep_fine_id, triggering reads during seeking for denial of service.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-112282 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in VideoLAN's libbluray library through version 1.5.1. The issue exists in the clpi_access_point() function, which improperly handles ClipInfo files containing an empty EP-map fine table. An attacker can craft a .clpi file with num_ep_fine set to zero and an unclamped ref_ep_fine_id, causing the function to perform out-of-bounds reads during seeking operations. This results in application crashes and denial of service conditions.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation causes denial of service by crashing applications that use libbluray to process crafted ClipInfo files. There is no indication of code execution or data corruption beyond the crash. The attack requires local or limited access to place the malicious .clpi file.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, avoid processing untrusted or suspicious ClipInfo (.clpi) files, especially those placed in the BDMV/CLIPINF directory with unusual EP-map fine table values.
