Description

A vulnerability in the Pillow Python imaging library versions prior to 13.0.0 allows crafted TIFF image metadata to cause invalid memory reads or process crashes. This occurs due to incorrect argument types passed to the libtiff TIFFSetField() function by the TIFF encoder, potentially leaking process memory in encoded output. The flaw is triggered when saving attacker-controlled metadata in compressed TIFF images or certain conversions preserving EXIF metadata. The issue is fixed in Pillow version 13.0.0.
